Program Description
:

The fellowship program in clinical chemistry combines training in the analytical, clinical, and administrative aspects of clinical chemistry with basic and applied research experience. The training is designed to prepare the candidate for a career in academic laboratory medicine or clinical practice by providing a foundation to apply to future developments in clinical pathology as well as current practice. The training program is organized in the laboratories of the two hospitals of the Washington University Medical Center: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and St. Louis Children's Hospital. The clinical chemistry training faculty includes 7 individuals of varied backgrounds and interests. The integrated research experience is generally in the laboratories of division faculty members but can be arranged in the laboratory of other members of the Washington University faculty. The minimum period of the fellowship is two years; however three years is more common.
